Alternative Fuel Vehicle Emergency Response & Awareness
Our level Hybrid/Electric/Alternate Fuel Training will cover alternate fueled vehicles, i.e. CNG (compressed natural gas), LNG (liquid natural gas), LPG ( Liquid propane gas), H2 (hydrogen), gasoline and diesel, Electric vehicles – battery only propulsion, Hybrid vehicles – combination of electric and I.C.E. (internal combustion engine).

Electric, hybrid, and alternative fuel vehicles bring new hazards to the roadside. This operational safety course prepares towing and recovery, fire, law enforcement, and emergency services personnel to respond safely to incidents involving electric, hybrid, CNG, LNG, propane, and hydrogen-powered vehicles.

Participants learn to identify, immobilize, and disable these vehicles. They also learn to manage the hazards of each fuel type: thermal runaway and stranded energy in EVs, BLEVE risk and gas pooling with propane, and invisible flames and high-pressure systems in hydrogen vehicles. The course also covers exclusion zones and fire-towing coordination on scene. It closes with towing, transport, and rigging fundamentals, including carrier, wheel lift, and dolly operations.

Classroom and Hands-On
This comprehensive full-day program is built for professionals who handle, tow, and recover hybrid and electric vehicles. It is designed for towing and recovery operators, law enforcement, fire services, EMS, and transportation professionals. Classroom instruction is paired with hands-on training, so participants leave with both knowledge and practical experience.

Topics include operator safety and compliance, PPE, vehicle identification, and how hybrid and EV systems work. Participants learn stabilization and system disablement, computer overrides, and low-voltage operations. They also learn fire and environmental response, and handling and storage best practices. The day finishes with winching, rigging, snatch block use, wheel lift and dolly towing, and carrier operations. Participants receive a certificate of completion.
